There are several reasons for this, including the inability of healthcare institutions to constantly monitor post-operative deterioration as well as patient's inability to visit the healthcare center for post-operation followups. Most of the patient data is recorded manually. This data is often weaned from displays of multiple monitoring devices like vitals monitor, infusion pumps, and ventilators. More often than not, these devices do not talk to each other or to a central system. Doctors, nurses, or other care-givers manually note down patient statistics in their files and notepads. Even though the healthcare industry is in the throes of digitization, there's still a lot of paper doing the rounds. eventually, the data from these physical sheets might be fed into an electronic system, but there is a high chance of error in that process.

Our client was a large financial institution with millions of customers using a wide range of products. So when customers called the contact center, they could have any query out of a possibility set of 68 categories. They would want investment advice, or ask about their account. Or they would simply want to reset their PIN. The trouble was that the large range of support offered at the contact center meant long and complex phone calls, as customers often found their way through the interactive voice response (VR) system to the wrong agent. They had to be re-routed-often several times- which gave our clients two problems.

Previous best practices for cleaning healthcare facilities centered on sanitizing frequently touched objects, such as bed rails or call buttons, because these objects were believed to be major sources of contagion. However, this new study finds that floors are the largest potential source of pathogens after reviewing five participating Cleveland-area hospitals. Specifically, the following findings are highlighted in the study: • Patient room floors in five hospitals were found to be contaminated with healthcare-associated pathogens. • High-touch objects often came to be in direct contact with the floor. • Touching objects on the floor frequently resulted in transfer of pathogens to hands. • Floors in hospital rooms are overlooked as a source for pathogen dissemination, with potentially dangerous results.
