Many premises-based phone system (PBX) manufacturers claim that the five year costs of their systems are lower than an equivalent cloud alternative. What the premises guys don’t tell you about is all the extra little hidden costs that come as a result of the limitations of the hardware and software in their systems. This guide will provide you with useful questions to ask your PBX manufacturer to ensure that you're getting the full picture on the cost of their system. Questions to Ask During an Evaluation: • Have you sized this system for my peak demand? • Have you factored in the cost of site redundancy? • How many hours of call recording are included? • How is mobility supported? Do calls route in an out of the PBX for call treatment? • What are the annual maintenance costs of the hardware and software in this system? • Which third party systems have you integrated this PBX with?

In order to maintain their commitment to customer service, Girard Toyota looked to upgrade their outdated phone system. The antiquated system they were using was not only costly to maintain, but also inhibited their efficiency — inbound calls were not answered in a timely fashion, and when they were, the hold times were much too long. Calls were not being transferred to the correct representatives, causing frustration for both new and existing customers. The entire customer experience was negatively impacted, threatening to cost the company revenue and its prized reputation for superior customer service.

There is a tectonic shift in the way we work. We expect the same kind of intuitive, tactile experience with our workplace technology that we now take for granted with our smartphones, tablets and gaming systems. We expect our devices to talk to each other and update automatically. Virtual meetings should be as easy to set up as a video chat, and whatever we need to do our jobs should be as easy to tailor as a streaming music or video application.

With today’s ‘touch of a button’, always-on lifestyles, consumers expect information to be quickly accessible to customer-facing staff. They expect the same efficiency they get from their own phones or devices. Yet all too often business data is mired in outdated, slow systems and applications. These systems are difficult to work with, making each call or transaction slow to process as a result. This impacts customer satisfaction and reduces throughput. It affects productivity.

In businesses and organizations across the world, rooms once humming with wires, black boxes and blinking lights now sit empty. In a lonely phone closet, there’s only dust, a single lonely terminal, or perhaps a foosball table where IT pros can let off steam. The cloud – and more specifically, cloud communications – is the source of the transformation, which has fundamentally changed the IT landscape. Some IT pros have embraced it. Some are working on migrating to the cloud over time. And others, through choice or necessity, are sticking with a premises-based approach. Read on to find out why some IT pros are shopping for game tables to go in empty server rooms while others are untangling wires and watching blinking lights—and which cases make the most sense for each approach.

Most people define mobile devices – smartphones and tablets – as those running a mobile-optimized operating system (e.g. iOS, Android, Windows Phone). There’s a trend emerging, however, in which traditional mobile devices are gaining functionality typically associated with PCs. At the same time, PCs are being architected more like mobile devices — an interbreeding of species, if you will. The iPad Pro, for example, has a keyboard. With Windows 10, phones and tablets can run “Universal” apps that also run on PCs. Windows 10 also has application-layer sandboxing, code-signing, and an app store with apps pre-vetted by Microsoft. In certain configurations (i.e. enterprise-managed devices), a laptop running Windows 10 has a security architecture that looks strikingly similar to a smartphone or tablet.

Providing better products at a better price isn’t always enough to attract and retain customers. The only way to truly stand out is to provide outstanding customer service. But, simply answering a customer’s phone call on the first ring or resolving an issue doesn’t qualify as outstanding customer service anymore.

Customer support is predicated on the instances when customers can’t solve their problem or get answers to their question(s) on their own. In some of those cases, such as phone calls or live chats, it can be difficult for agents to identify and resolve the issue without additional visual assistance. With co-browse, agents can see what the visitor sees, provide guided assistance by highlighting items or filling out forms on a visitor’s behalf. Sensitive fields like social security numbers and passwords can be blocked from the agent’s view so private information remains just that, private. Bold360’s co-browse allows agents to follow visitors behind secure fields i.e. signing into their account – providing an extra level of support to customers.

With physical and online information security always growing stronger and harder to crack, fraudsters gravitate toward the weakest link in your security—your contact center and voice channels. For many years, our annual fraud reports have shown that fraudsters increasingly exploit the phone channel. Fraud rates continue to increase every year, and this year is no different. Between 2016 (1 in 937 calls) and 2017 (1 in 638 calls), the overall voice channel fraud rate increased by 47%, continuing on the upward trend from last year 113% increase.1 From 2013 through 2017 we have seen the fraud rate climb over 350%, with no signs of slowing down. It is important to note, that some verticals (i.e. Retail) experience even higher fraud rates than shown here.

A Practical Guide to IDF/MDF Infrastructure Implementation Once relegated to early adopters and casual home users, VoIP (voice over Internet protocol) has matured. An essential element of any unified communications (UC) system, it is now the standard method of voice communication in business, education, government and healthcare.
