An intelligent, searchable network monitoring fabric with 100% accuracy sounds pretty useful. But can you calculate a solid ROI to justify it? We all know intuitively that there are substantial bottomline benefits to reducing unplanned network downtime and improving the management of corporate risk. It follows that it also pays dividends to free up highly skilled Tier 1 and Tier2 engineers to resolve the most difficult and costly network issues. That way, you can use less expensive personnel to handle the more common, numerous, and easily resolvable problems. But justifying a network investment using soft, intuitive arguments like these alone often doesn’t suffice in an economic climate where budgets are closely guarded and business cases for procurements are mandatory. And depending on what industry you are in, the cost savings potential and payback will vary. Download this Whitepaper for more information.

White Paper Published By: Emulex Corporation     Published Date: Nov 07, 2013
The status quo in network monitoring is no longer adequate for large organizations. It’s simply taking too long for enterprises with mission-critical networks to resolve and find the root causes of network incidents. To speed things up, enterprises must add dedicated incident response and root cause analysis capabilities that are 100% accurate and reliable to their network management arsenals. It takes so long to diagnose, fix, and eradicate network incidents that network uptime and performance are suffering. Because of this, organizations need to embrace incident response and root cause analysis capabilities to accelerate resolution times and avoid the network downtime and service degradation that can cost them thousands, if not millions, of dollars per minute. Having 100% accurate network visibility is a looming requirement for avoiding substantial financial losses. Why? And how can you get it? You can’t manage and protect what you can’t see. But while many hundreds of network monitoring tools exist, organizations today know surprisingly little about the traffic on their mission-critical, high-speed networks. It takes them so long to fix network problems that the business suffers while the seconds, minutes, and hours of downtime accumulate. Download this Whitepaper for more information.

The use of non-fully qualified domain name (FQDN) certificates is being deprecated by November 1, 2015. Existing certificates containing non-FQDN names will be revoked by all public CAs by October 1, 2016. Entrust provides a straightforward option that allows the continued use of non-registered names by deploying cost-effective Entrust Private SSL Certificates.

To bolster consumer trust in the foundation of ecommerce before it was irreparably damaged, several CAs and browser vendors came together to establish a higher security approach based on common standards: Extended Validation SSL certificates. EV SSL is universally supported by all desktop browsers and provides an EV trust indication. All mobile browsers support EV SSL and some provide an EV indication. Extended Validation SSL certificates have the highest impact on consumers, reassuring them that the site they are visiting is legitimate through visual cues in un-modifiable parts of the browser interface “chrome.” For example, the latest versions of Microsoft Internet Explorer, Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, Opera and Apple Safari display the corporate name with a green background for sites protected by an Extended Validation SSL certificate.

The cloud is impacting WAN architectures. IT leaders looking to use a cloud-based infrastructure and/or application services, especially high-bandwidth, real-time voice and video over Internet Protocol applications, should strategically locate communications hubs outside the enterprise data center.

Enterprises grapple with a host of challenges that are spurring the creation of hybrid clouds: collections of computing infrastructure spread across multiple data centers and multiple cloud providers. This new concept often provokes uncertainty, which must be addressed head on. As more applications and computing resources move to the cloud, enterprises will become more dependent on cloud vendors, whether the issue is access, hosting, management, or any number of other services. Cloud consumers want to avoid vendor lock-in—having only one cloud provider. They want to know that they will have visibility into data and systems across multiple platforms and providers. They want to be able to move servers and storage around without a negative impact on application availability.

This paper explores the challenges that today’s CIOs face in regard to application performance, and how a more strategic data center approach, like distributing applications closer to your users, can help optimize application performance and reduce IT costs.

Connections are great. Having a network to connect to is even better. Humans have been connecting, in one form or another, throughout history. Our cities were born from the drive to move closer to each other so that we might connect. And while the need to connect hasn’t changed, the way we do it definitely has. Nowhere is this evolution more apparent than in business. In today’s landscape, business is more virtual, geographically dispersed and mobile than ever, with companies building new data centers and clustering servers in separate locations.
